Where The Money Goes

Until 2010, Courage Classic riders have primarily raised money for
Children’s “areas of greatest need” with a portion supporting The Children's Hospital Sports Program. These gifts have been collectively called “unrestricted”.

This year, the Foundation has re-named the collection of unrestricted gifts, but we haven’t changed where the money goes. Courage Classic fundraising now supports Children’s Fund for The Children’s Hospital and a portion still goes to the Hospital Sports Program.

Children’s Fund gifts, just like unrestricted gifts from previous years, helps to provide each child we care for—and their family—with the best possible healthcare experience. Gifts to the Children’s Fund helped us serve 150,200 children in 2009. Contributions also helped us to support family members, who Children’s counts as important partners in each patient’s care team. In the coming year, the fund will become increasingly critical to The Children’s Hospital and patients’ families as we provide even more kids and teens with access to the best care and cures.

Your support for Children’s Fund helps us to:

  • Offer the highest level of pediatric care possible to all patients
  • Provide financial counselors to aid in directing parents to appropriate federal and state resources
  • Cover the cost of care that government aid programs do not
  • Treat all children well, regardless of payment capability
  • Support physicians and their patients in rural mountain communities
  • Guarantee a return call from Children’s specialists within the hour
  • Meet unique pediatric health needs via a care network of 1,000 pediatric specialists and more than 3,200 full-time employees
