Fundraising Tip from Heather Schichtel
Mom and team captain Heather Schichtel created an online Smilebox slideshow as a way to engage potential donors. It energetically and thoughtfully tells about Samantha—who the team rides for, asks for a donation and affirms why support to the rider can make a difference at Children's. We tried it out, you can create it in 5 minutes if you have photos on hand.

I chose Smilebox because it was easy to post on my blog, Facebook and send out via email. I wanted to create something that talked about Samantha and our Courage experience but also the other kiddos we have come to know through The Children's Hospital. On a personal note, these pictures bring back great memories from last year and the important work Children's is doing for my daughter. It also gives me inspiration to train in 90+ degree weather.

Why Emily Brown Decided to Ride with Team Courage
Emily Brown, 24, is one of about 60 Team Courage riders in this year’s tour. When she decided to ride for the first time two years ago, she had been a Children’s patient for half of her young life. Emily was treated for cancer that affected her ribs, lungs and spine and caused paralysis from the waist down. She refused to give in and now she has full use of her legs. Riding in the Courage Classic is a personal triumph, and a way for Emily to give back to the hospital.

Badge Update
Unfortunately, Facebook has made some changes to their interface and is not longer allowing badges. Existing badges may continue to work until August, but new badges may not be added to your FB profile. You can continue to get fundraising mileage from your social networking accounts, like Twitter, Linkedin--as well as Facebook--though, by posting frequent status messages (or tweets) with links to your fundraising page.
