Why I Ride
I believe my participation, and that of more than 2,000 other riders, gives hope to kids with cancer and other illnesses treated at The Children's Hospital.
It must lift the spirit of kids and their families to know everyone, even strangers, are fighting for them, and riding with them, in their battle. I am fortunate enough to have a healthy baby girl, Emma. Nearly every weekend last summer, I buckled her in a burly at sunrise and rode up Left Hand Canyon. She would sleep on the climb and shake her rattler and giggle on the downhill, the best riding partner I could have. Every kid and parent should have a chance at that experience. But I also know personally how cancer and other illnesses can turn a family's life upside down. It makes you truly appreciate those Saturday morning rides with your daughter. So please join me in supporting Children's Hospital effort to help all kids by donating to my ride in the 2010 Courage Classic.
Why I Support The Children's Hospital
Sonja was born in November 2008 with complex heart and digestive issues. Her parents founded Sonja’s Soldiers in her honor because, thanks to Children’s, baby Sonja is growing up – one day at a time.
Spencer was struck by a car while riding his bike when he was 6 years old. With Children’s help, he fought severe head injuries to become the healthy teen – and strong rider – he is today.
Nick was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 5 years old. His parents founded Team Nickcycle to support Children’s for providing him with the best possible treatment.
Ellaura rides to give back, she says. Now healthy and active at 17, she has been a neurology patient at Children’s since she was 4 years old.
