Why I Ride

Hello! This is Jose DiPaola, son of Jorge. My dad, as some of you might know, had an injury that developed over our summer vacation in Argentina , and it soon became apparent that riding the Courage Classic was going to be impossible. I decided to stand in for my dad and as I have never ridden more than 5 miles I thought it prudent to actually start riding. I am feeling excited about the entire experience. The week we have been back from Argentina has given me time to realize how hard this is going to be, but I will still pedal as much as I can. The info about my father is below here, in the event that anyone would like to know.

I am a pediatric hematologist oncologist and a faculty member at the University of Colorado and The Children's Hospital. I have taken care of children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders for many years. Everyone of them in their own way has changed my life forever. It is time to give back and what a better way than riding in the beautiful Colorado mountains. My wife Terrie and I are committed to help Wheels of Justice to reach the 1,000,000 dollar goal in 2010!

Why I Support The Children's Hospital

Sonja was born in November 2008 with complex heart and digestive issues. Her parents founded Sonja’s Soldiers in her honor because, thanks to Children’s, baby Sonja is growing up – one day at a time.

Spencer was struck by a car while riding his bike when he was 6 years old. With Children’s help, he fought severe head injuries to become the healthy teen – and strong rider – he is today.

Nick was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 5 years old. His parents founded Team Nickcycle to support Children’s for providing him with the best possible treatment.

Ellaura rides to give back, she says. Now healthy and active at 17, she has been a neurology patient at Children’s since she was 4 years old.
